This session combines two originally proposed sessions:
- Shielding / sidelobes / optical performance
- Synthesize thinking on optical simulations and sidelobes from ST and LT and ensure all issues are covered, and that people are communicating appropriately.
- Connect the sidelobe performance requirements (from measurements and observing simulations) to instrument requirements on shielding and cryogenic absorbers
- Evaluate performance of existing shielding plans in both ST and LT
- Evaluate groundshield requirements separately for south pole (flat) and Chile (~15 degree mountains nearby)
- Atmosphere & Ground-Pickup modeling for simulations
- Define the simulation plan for connecting timestream performance requirements like low-frequency performance and modulator speed to map-space and ell-space noise requirements
- Define a simulation plan for connecting ground temperature variation and ground shielding plan to map-space and ell-space noise requirements
Agenda
- Shielding / sidelobes / optical performance
- Patricio Gallardo pdf and Johanna Nagy File:CWRU ground pickup.pdf: LAT Sidelobe calculations and addressing whether a LAT ground screen is needed
- Kirit Karkare : Science forecasts including LAT/SAT sidelobes and non-ideal instrument performance slides
- Tyler St. Germaine: SAT sidelobes slides
- Discussion of next steps for sidelobe and optical performance modeling and integration into simulations
- Backup material: ACT sidelobe simulations match well with measurements, but measurements have not been published yet.
- Atmosphere & Ground-Pickup modeling for simulations
- Sara M. Simon : Scan Synchronous Signal slides
- Clem Pryke : Connecting raw detector sensitivity and optimized scanning strategies with final map depth wiki post
- Reijo Keskitalo : Atmospheric signal slides animation
- All : discussion on the ground and atmosphere simulation plan
- Define "timestream performance requirements". How do they map onto pixel and multipole noise requirements?
- How does one go from ground temperature variation and ground shielding plan to pixel and multipole noise requirements?
