Charge

This session combines two originally proposed sessions:

  1. Shielding / sidelobes / optical performance
    • Synthesize thinking on optical simulations and sidelobes from ST and LT and ensure all issues are covered, and that people are communicating appropriately.
    • Connect the sidelobe performance requirements (from measurements and observing simulations) to instrument requirements on shielding and cryogenic absorbers
    • Evaluate performance of existing shielding plans in both ST and LT
    • Evaluate groundshield requirements separately for south pole (flat) and Chile (~15 degree mountains nearby)
  2. Atmosphere & Ground-Pickup modeling for simulations
    • Define the simulation plan for connecting timestream performance requirements like low-frequency performance and modulator speed to map-space and ell-space noise requirements
    • Define a simulation plan for connecting ground temperature variation and ground shielding plan to map-space and ell-space noise requirements
