The CMB-S4 collaboration is governed according to its bylaws.
- The Governing Board is the policy-forming body of the Collaboration, and provides oversight of the Spokespeople.
- The Election & Voting Commission is charged with conducting Collaboration elections.
- The Spokespeople are the executive officials of the Collaboration, responsible for its day-to-day management.
- The Ombudspeople provide informal, confidential, nonjudgmental, impartial, and independent advice and arrange mediation for members for the purposes of dispute resolution.
- The Executive Team is the agile decision-making body in the Collaboration with the ability to address the day-to-day collaboration issues.
- The Science Council works closely with the Spokespeople to coordinate the key scientific objectives of the Collaboration, which are then executed by the Analysis Working Groups.
- The Technical Council works closely with the Spokespeople to coordinate the technical aspects needed to meet the scientific objectives of the Collaboration, which are then executed by the Technical Working Groups.
- The Membership Committee reviews and evaluates membership applications, reviews members’ annual activity reports, and recommends changes in membership status.
- The Publication & Speakers Committee is comprised of the Publications Board and Speakers Bureau
- The Publication Board oversees the formulation, execution, review, authorship, and publication of all Collaboration papers.
- The Speakers Bureau helps Collaboration members give more and better talks in support of the Collaboration, and ensures that talks get distributed among the Collaboration Members in a way that reflects the contributions of different members to the collaboration, their career status and the desire to promote junior members, and equity of opportunity.
- The Junior Scientist Advancement Committee ensures that student and postdoctoral members of the Collaboration are represented, assisted, and supported throughout the tenure of the Collaboration.
- The External Collaboration Committee provides the necessary link to external follow-up observations or survey data that required to maximize the science return from CMB-S4.
- The Education & Public Outreach Committee is responsible for initiating, overseeing, and recording the Collaboration’s efforts in the areas of public outreach and education.
