collaboration values

As a collaboration, we have defined and prioritized our scientific and social values through workshops at multiple collaboration meetings and joint meetings of the collaboration leadership, Science Council, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee.  In June 2023, the collaboration governing board approved the statement of social values.  The statement of our scientific values is still under development.

Our values reflect the core principles and ethics of our collaboration. CMB-S4 commits to ensuring that our community upholds the values in this statement through (1) critically assessing our policies and structures and (2) providing individual members with resources to support their personal responsibility to uphold our values.

Social Values

Our core social values are:

  1. Collaborative and Supportive Environment
  2. Inclusion
  3. Respect
  4. Integrity
  5. Anti-racism
  6. Equity

For more detailed information and specific examples of how we can uphold our values, please see our full 4-page social values statement.

Scientific Values

Our science collaboration prides itself on the highest standards of scientific integrity and professionalism.  We are currently engaged in documenting specific and tangible ways to uphold these values in a scientific values statement.  This activity is led by the Science Council and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee, and will lead to a unified statement of our collaboration values that includes our scientific values, social values, and their mutual overlap.
